Weapon in Development, part 2

Hi, guys! How's the term break going? Enjoy? Having fun?

So, this is my progress for making the axe...

Based on the working drawing, I've cut the axe into many pieces.

Each pieces of the cutout is a mounting board stick by double-sided tape with 2 pieces of compact foam at both side.

This is to make the axe looks bulky & thick, but still very light to wield it. (like holding a feather... :D)

As the picture shown above, this is how it look when combine all the pieces together.

Of course, I'm still have a long way to finishing it, this is just the inner part of the axe, I'm still need to covered it with cardboard, make the blade sharp, adding all the details & etc.

Yupe, still got a long way to go... OTZ

Weapon in Development

Greetings!

There is a Chinese saying, "hit the metal when it's hot" (打铁要趁热... :D)

After I've sketch out the design, I trace the artwork with FreeHand(designer software), and this is my basic line work. The axe is about 2.5 feet in height, less than 1.5 feet in width.

The status up to now is, I've printed out the actual size in paper, now I'm going to start all the handicraft works... :D

I will update the progress again, maybe with photos also, really looking forward to make the axe happen. So, how's about your weapon?

The Forge Master

Forge your own weapon...

As if an artist without his brush, a chef without his spatula.

How can you start your adventure without a weapon?

Fellow members, we should forge our own weapon, if we need to start our journey...

So, as for our next mission (character development still ongoing), think of a weapon suitable for yourself. Learn from the previous meeting, find a concept, brainstorming and development.

Show me your design and we will make it happen, also, don't forget to engraved our club logo into it.

As for me, I will be using Axe, I named it "King Cutter X-AE"(pronounce as X minus AE). The ideas of my design is based on [X](axe) and [O](round shape). After a few development, as what you can see from the picture above, this will be my final outcome.

The center of the axe is a round green orb, the two blade is heat blade. So, I'm thinking of colored it with gradation tone, from white, yellow to orange, maybe a little bit red at the edge. Also, I engraved our club logo into it, can you find it?

So, this is what I can think of it for now... Now, what will your design be?

Project in Mind | My Game

It happened a while ago, when I need to work at the front counter due to lack of human resource.

It gave me the chance to explore about games, especially “indie” games. You all may visit http://www.tigsource.com for reference.

It strike me that maybe I also can fulfill the dream of my life, make my own game.

So, inspired from Bombie Zombie by Codemonkey http://shadypixel.webs.com/bz.htm

And definitely influenced by Super Metroid, this is what I had in mind for the introduction…

I’m a Space Bounty Hunter.
Although I’m not the top, but I’m the best you can get in this sector of space.

Never knew the hunter becomes hunted. I was ambushed by the Bing Bang Gang, the nastiest Alien Crook ever encounter.
My ship is damaged and forced to land on this… Planet “Amn”

Legend says the planet was a holy ground of an Ancient Civilization… Until one day the whole population of the planet vanished, nobody knew what happened?

Since that day, the planet becomes the breeding ground of many alien monsters…

The game design will be minimalism, pixel art and action platformer. Many Ideas still in development stages, I still need to learn game making form zero…

A Trip To Penang Toy Museum

Yes! Monday is the day. We visited the Penang Toys Museum. (will upload the photos later)

So, as what I expected, everybody was having a good time over there. Let them some knowledge about toys and they have a lot of laugh due to the misplace of the toys... :P

Same for me, disappointed indeed, of how they mange the museum… :(
As a toy collector myself, it sadden for me to say that the museum gave “Toys” a bad name. It make the toys is just a toys, child’s play.

“Toys”, should be a piece of our childhood’s memories. Something that share with our life, something we want but unable to afford.

An high-tech masterpiece of that time, that we always carried it to show off to others and proud of owning it.


Give us unlimited imagination, smile and happiness.
But the museum doesn’t make it so…

Although the comments is criticizes more than praise, but the main purpose of the trip has been met. And I think the member will have lots of inspiration and idea for their character development.

Visit to Penang Toy Museum

One of the member proposed to visit the Penang Toy Museum as our next club activity and we all agreed.
Penang Toy Museum is located at Jalan Tanjung Bungah in front of Copthorne Orchid Hotel.
- Date of visit: 20th Sep 2010
- Time: 0f visit: 4.30pm ~ 6.00pm
- Gather at Amoy Lane Campus.
- Person In-charge: King Cutter EX

It is a good opportunity for the members to visit the Penang Toy Museum as this will give the them a lot of inspiration and ideas for their characters development... :D

So, I will update this post when we visited the Penang Toys Museum... yeah! 敬请期待

Our Quest for 2010

As the new members joined, after some discussion, we decided what are we to do for the club activities.

- Create characters of their own.
i. Brainstorming & character development

- Create a world and a short story for the characters.
i. Biography & World overview

- Make it into comic when the story complete.
- Create Cosplay for the characters created.
- Target to go to KL Comic Fiesta 2010 on 18th Dec.
- Target to get a booth and sell products.

Awaken, the CosGami

After many month of slumber, the CosGaMi is awaken. Once again, we shall find a new meaning towards Anime, Manga, Games, Toys & Cosplay, to bring the culture to a new level in penang even in whole Malaysia, better yet worldwide, as this will be our legacy.

Welcome to all the newly joined members, as the members of yesteryears leaves us, it is upon us to take up the honour, to fill in the blank pages of our journal, to write our own stories that will inspire the generation beyond.

The quest will be tough and sacrifice need to be made, but with courage and passion, we shall make it.

Now… let the journey begin!

Pixel Art Workshop

Introduction:
Nowadays, youngster's life has been surrounded by interactive media, like website, internet games, and video games. Interactive media is a lucrative business. Our students will benefit from knowing the actual process of how to create content for such interactive designs.

Objectives:
- To teach students how to create Pixel Art, called "sprites", which are itself a popular culture, and are used heavily in video games.

- To teach students how to create frame by frame animations. Which are needed in animated sprites.
